Last Saturday I had the pleasure of accompanying my friend Abby to the Night to Shine dance hosted by 242 Community Church. Night to Shine is a prom night experience for people with special needs sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.

On Saturday I competed for my third year vying for the Miss Monroe County crown, and my heart is so full. I left my heart out on the stage (& the interview room), and placed as second runner-up. Service is in the heart and lifestyle of every contestant in the Miss America Opportunity. Above all else, titleholders are community servants who are granted a platform to impact their community through their own service initiative.
The definition of success is different for every contestant in the Miss America Opportunity. It doesn't mean just walking away with the crown. To "lose" is still to succeed because you will always walk away learning something.
